SOCIAL WORKERS
This Combined Incorporated Society employs three Social Workers who share the area from Waihi Beach in the north west to Cape Runaway on the East Coast. They include Huntington's Disease under their umbrella of neurological diseases.

The Role of the Social Worker:
1. We offer information on Huntington's Disease and other Neurological conditions.
2. We have pamphlets, library books, information on the latest research, videos and tapes at no cost.
3. We can make it possible for you to meet others with the same condition, one to one or in a support group situation.
4. We have information on the services that are available to you and can arrange for these on your behalf; e.g.

transport

income support

home help

care relief

taxi vouchers

mobility cards

5. We arrange exercise classes and hydrotherapy. (This involves a cost.)
6. We have information on equipment and where you can get it from.
7. We have an active committee who work hard for the benefit of all members.
